One night after his hitting lessons at The Baseball Company in Charlottesville, we blasted country music over the speakers and spent all night dancing, talking, and hitting baseballs to each other. He hit me ground balls for over an hour and sang "give it all we got tonight" by George Strait to me. That was all it took for me to know that he was the one.
I look at my husband through different eyes when we connect over a song. A perfect song. Where the chorus chimes in with a thumping bass line, a good drum kick, and a screaming guitar. It’s an unspoken whoa. It’s a different language that only we speak. And we look at each other, we get it. Windows down, put on a song, turn it up loud… He knows every riff and I know every word. That is our love.
He is my best friend not because of all the good and magical times we have together, but because of the hard times. He takes the good with the bad and loves me no less. He loves me the same whether I am happy as a clam or crying in bed, and something like that isn’t easy to find. To find someone who truly accepts you is not an easy endeavor.
