Today I'm writing a blog that is a little different than others I've posted. Today I want to talk about finding your tribe not only in the industry, but in life. It's hard to find your "tribe" while your at college as a full time business owner, and today I can say I'm happy to have found them.
I wanted to start off by saying, If you aren't networking in the community you should be! Whether it is online networking or meeting people face to face (which is what i HIGHLY suggest!) networking can take you so far in this industry! I'm not just talking about for referrals (even though those are so nice.), but for friendships.
It can be so hard as a business owner, (going through what we go through) without any of our "non-creative" friends understanding, It's hard to know exactly who to turn to when your unsure of yourself, stuck, or just need help- and we all do. When you have someone who is doing exactly what you are doing every day, and know how hard it can be (because, sometimes you find yourself having so much to do that you decide to do nothing at all. a feeling i like to call: overwhelmed.) it can push you to be the best business owner possible.
Plus, You never know who you'll have a deeper connection with and end up being amazing friends!
So after reading my blog I want you to reach out to one photographer in your area (that you've never met, but you want to) and I want you to ask to go to coffee, simply introduce yourself, or even just say something nice about their work! You may be surprised what can happen!
+ Maybe we don't realize it, but that extra little push of encouragement could mean the world to them.
Anyways, this group of girls is so supportive to each other (including me!) and having that support system from someone in the same friend sometimes can mean more to you than anyone else! ( don't ask me why, but it's so true!). I'm so excited to be sharing the pictures from Hope's surprise DC Waterfront Birthday shoot at National Harbor, but not because I took them, but because these girls are so good to me and I'm so blessed to call them all friends! They are the true meaning of #communityovercompetition, and I'm so happy that we are living examples of what can happen when you help each other and simply be a good friend to one another.
Thank you so much for reading my blog and I can't wait to have you back next week! in the mean time, feel free to check out last weeks blog posts!
