A Letter to My 24-Year-Old Self | Birthday

A post from instagram

A letter to my 24-year-old self, on the very last day before I turn 25.

Dear 24 year old you, we should have a chat before you’re a whole year older. I want to tell you some things. First of all, don’t worry about being where you thought you’d be.

Don’t worry about the paths that changed. You turned walls into doors. I’m proud of you.

You traveled across the sea all by yourself. Then you moved past hardships that you thought would ruin you.

You intentionally let go of people you loved, but they didn’t deserve you. In the process of knowing your worth, you gained more love than you knew was possible.

You surrounded yourself with people that genuinely brought you joy, and I’m proud of you for that.

You stopped worry so much about what your feed looked like, and you worried more about what your life looked like.

You went outside; you fell in love, you started donating to animals, you picked up books again, you took your first steps towards a new business venture.

You’ve always worked hard, but one thing you’ve never been good at is taking breaks.

You finally chose to rest when it was needed, and for that, I’m proud too.

You realized humans are a complex mix of emotions, and it’s okay to feel however you feel.

You made mistakes, so many, and thank God you did. You’re filled with fire now to be better. Isn’t that the biggest blessing you could ever ask for?

When you turn 25, I want you to stop worrying about what your life isn’t and start focusing on what it IS.

Some people never have the chance to see their 25th birthday. SO, when you turn 25, I want you to stop worrying about some stupid should-have-been world you don’t have yet, and celebrate the fact that you’re ALIVE.

Isn’t that the coolest?

People are dreaming of their 25th birthday, and here you were dreading it because you “felt old”.

Today I choose to wear my age like a badge of honor. Celebrate for your friend who only saw 18 years of her life and so many others who you wish could be here.

No more dreading, way more celebrating life.

-25-year-old Nat

If you’re dreading getting older like I was… I hope this encourages you to choose a celebration.🖤
