Big Spring Farm | Shenandoah Valley Venue with Ten-Acre Lake

Virginia Wedding Venue Big Spring Farm

There is no one more fitting of the first EVER vendor highlight than one of my very favorite places on this little piece of land we call Virginia- Big Spring Farm. I’m going to give you the lowdown on all of the reasons that Big Spring Farm is the location for YOU. If you haven’t’ visited this oasis of a venue, you’re missing out. I have been to dozens of venues, and this one really has my heart above all the others.

There are a lot of reasons why I have such a soft spot for this land. If you love nature, mountains, farming, open skies, open fields, rolling hills, gorgeous sunsets, natural springs, chirping birds, fresh air, and beautiful trees — you’ll understand. This venue is all of those things and so much more.

I grew up in a small town, so maybe being here brings me back to feeling like I’m within nature. Big Spring Farm is not only gorgeous and nature-filled, but it is here to build a legacy of a community dedicated to marriages, family, and farming. Not to mention they are constantly strengthening the Big Spring Farm experience. I love going time and time again to see the changes to this beautiful piece of land.

All of these features embody the reasons you need to see this slice of heaven, but the experience is something I really have not highlighted. The smell of fresh air, the sound of birds chirping in the trees. Not to mention the sweetest owners: Buddy and Jill and their assistant, Mary… with whom I feel like I am in constant communication with. Thanks for always being an angel, Mary!

Limitless portrait locations

Okay, so here’s the deal. There are two types of venues. The first type is where it’s nearly IMPOSSIBLE to find locations to take strong photographs in. Photographers have to use some serious creativity to find a good location for our couples. For instance, I shot at a venue once where I spent more time trying to find a location for my couple that I actually spent photographing them. This is a true story.

Then, there is Big Spring Farm.

I’m not even kidding, everywhere I look I am ooh-ing and ahh-ing in my head because… W O W. Other than jaw-dropping, beautiful, spectacular, and gorgeous…I have no words.

Big Spring Farm is one of those places that takes a little piece of your heart and once you leave you instantly crave another visit. (If you haven’t seen the two video clips on my website HERE and HERE, they were both taken at Big Spring Farm!

Big Spring Farm Mountains by Natalie Jayne Photography

Shenandoah Valley mountain location

This elegant wedding venue is tucked into my very favorite Shenandoah Mountains in Lexington, VA, and the rolling hills are just the beginning. Anyone who knows me knows that I LOVE the Shenandoah Mountains. I crave the incredible views (especially during the Fall) and I think that the most special experience you can have as a human is feeling small in the land surrounding you.

The mountains give me a sense of wanderlust even though they are right around the corner from Richmond, D.C. and Charlottesville. Which is insane to me. I can’t tell you how many times my couples leave this venue in awe at its beautiful sunset and property. If anyone is looking for gorgeous mountain views with a small town feel, this is my number one suggestion.

This venue comes equipped with a timeless barn and a ten-acre lake

One of my favorite features is the barn that overlooks the lake.  This restored barn is filled with warmth and ambiance. Not to mention, the TEN-acre lake that is oozing with beauty. If you get a chance to visit Big Spring Farm’s website, you’ll see some pretty incredible footage of the lake. In other words, if you aren’t obsessed with the lake yet, then you HAVE to see it!

Gorgeous views, anywhere you look

I also love the ever-changing greenery, the tall glowing grass and the warm pink clouds at sunsets. Not to mention the cool creek bed that runs on the property. I could honestly go on and on about this venue, but for now, I leave you with five words- YOU HAVE TO SEE IT!

I also wanted to share Big Spring Farms incredible mission:

” To create spaces for timeless, unique, and unforgettable, events, serving our guests with excellence through building relationships, caring for the land, and fostering the covenant of marriage.”

Directly from Big Spring Farm:

“We love people to come to visit and tour the venue! The farm is beautiful year round. All of our visits are by appointment, which can be scheduled online, and are usually guided by our owners Buddy and Jill.  We love to connect with each of our couples and get to know them.”
