The engagement

Long before this Skyline Drive engagement session, they met through a friend in high school! To propose, Sam planned out the entire day. They spent the entire day walking down memory lane with a scrap book of old pictures and visiting all their old spots.

They went everywhere from the friends house they met at to the inner harbor to the zoo and then finally to a sunflower field where he popped the question.

Session Inspiration

After we first talked on the phone they mentioned that they stayed in a cabin in Shenandoah (near Skyline!) and that they called it their happy place. Since these two loved the outdoors and the mountains, we could think of a more perfect fit for their session. Sam surprised Jackson by getting the Cabin the weekend of our session, and the rest was history!

I can’t wait to be a part of their beautiful wedding next year!

Session tip for couples:

One of the things that made this session so special was that Jackson and Sam turned this into a date! We chatted before their session and talked about what they would want to incorporate. We landed on a short hike and a picnic! Together, we tried to tie in real elements that actually meant something to them and their relationship.

We included desserts since Jackson has a sweet tooth (just like me!), note reading since they wrote each other letters, and a picnic to make it a date! They even included drinks and food into their picnic, and YES, we actually ate!

It was also really important that their outfits were cohesive with the activity we chose to do in Skyline Drive! In this case, it made the most sense that they were in semi- casual outfits. They picked outfits that were well styled since the rest of the session was also styled!
